The ICF financing has taken place within the framework of the ICF EcoVerda loan line, through which the financial institution promotes sustainable and environmentally friendly projects and investments that promote the energy transition. As part of its technological transformation, Engel Energy will make an investment of €15 million in IT linked to the new service to maximise the efficiency of photovoltaic installations, five of them from the two-year loan from the public bank for the promotion of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

CleanTech Engel Energy has the support of the Institut Català de Finances (ICF) to implement its technological transformation process linked to the launch of EVEON, its disruptive solar energy service, unique in Europe, which promotes the energy transition of homes by eliminating the main barrier to access to solar energy: the cost of installations.
The ICF has granted a two-year €5 million loan to Engel Energy, through its ICF EcoVerda line, to contribute to the global investment of €15 million that the company will make over the next three years in IT linked to its new service to maximize the efficiency of photovoltaic plants. The development of this proprietary and differential software for data analysis and professional management makes it possible to optimize the efficiency of the network of photovoltaic installations.
The loans of the ICF EcoVerda line aim to finance self-employed people, companies or public and private entities with registered or operational headquarters in Catalonia to carry out sustainable and environmentally friendly investments or working capital needs that promote green economy, circular economy or energy efficiency projects, among others.
The financing from the public development bank is in addition to the entry of €100 million by the Ithaka fund over the next two or three years to carry out these installations at no cost to customers.
In Catalonia, the company plans to facilitate the installation of EVEON in more than 1,100 homes within two years, in order to achieve a combined power of 5,750kWp and an estimated reduction of more than 3,530 tonnes of CO2 emissions in Catalonia.
The innovative EVEON solar self-consumption service, unique in Europe, consists of a subscription to a single stable tariff that includes electricity consumption -with its own marketer-, the photovoltaic plant optimised with batteries -without any type of investment-, as well as the maintenance and updating of the plant to guarantee its optimal operation. Through this new business model, the customer pays the same amount each month, with savings on their electricity bill of up to 30%.
As Xavier Mas, corporate director of Engel Energy, explained: "We are very pleased to have the support of the ICF to develop our project, because at a complex time for the sector they have trusted in the solidity of our differential proposal. We want to facilitate the energy transition of homes and to this end we have created a stable electricity tariff with which we break down one of the main barriers to access to photovoltaic energy, the cost of installation".
For her part, Vanessa Servera, delegate of the Catalan Institute of Finance, stated that "the public promotion bank of the Generalitat de Catalunya exists precisely to promote those projects and investments that promote the energy transition and move towards the construction of a sustainable, responsible and, above all, renewable energy consumption model".
In a context in which surpluses are going to be paid less and less, in order to self-consume and save as much as possible, it is necessary to equip the plant with physical batteries and manage the purchase and sale of energy in the most efficient way. EVEON responds to this challenge by being a professional energy management service – with advanced software – that makes solar energy bring real savings to customers and independence from market fluctuations.
