The Catalan company, based in Sant Jaume dels Domenys (Baix Penedès), is engaged in the processing and marketing of smoked fresh produce. The investment will allow the company to double its production capacity in Catalonia and acquire another business in the sector.
The ICF Capital Expansió fund has invested 1.3 million euros in the Catalan company Reyes Varón, which processes and markets fresh smoked products, mainly salmon and cod. The company, based in Sant Jaume dels Domenys (Baix Penedès), has a production capacity of 550 tonnes per year and specialises in importing Norwegian salmon for processing and selling. The investment, through a participating convertible loan of 1.3 million euros, was accompanied by a capital increase by the current shareholders.
The investment will allow the company to achieve a double goal of organic and inorganic growth. On the one hand, Reyes Varón will introduce new production lines that will double its capacity. On the other hand, it has formalised the acquisition of the Benfumat company, which will allow it to increase its portfolio of products, improve market penetration and become one of the main consolidated players in this sector.
Reyes Varón is a family business that was created in 1993. Since 2017, it has been managed by Collins Capital, which has implemented a working policy based on continuous improvement, orderly growth, proactive business strategy, the remodelling of the company's corporate image and the consolidation of the brand within the sector.
